Customer Service Representative

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Answer incoming customer service calls, process orders received via telephone, fax, email and sales representatives.

  • Provide copies of orders with shipping instructions to operations and shipping department.

  • Provide order confirmations to customers; follow up with revised target dates.

  • Act as a liaison between the customer and other areas of the organization (including operations, shipping, sales, and accounting) to resolve customer issues.

  • Review/log daily production completed/manufactured work against open orders.

  • Work with freight forwarders and trucking companies to obtain rate quotes; schedule international shipments; approve freight bills.

  • Prepare shipping paperwork for international shipments; invoice all orders.

  • Review customer price agreements for upcoming expiration dates.

  • Prepare NAFTA certificates.


Minimum Requirements for this position are as follows:

  • High school diploma.

  • Prior experience in a customer service role.

  • Excellent telephone, interpersonal, and written skills.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Outlook and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Word and Excel).

  • Able to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced environment.


Other highly desired skills/experience include:

  • Prior experience with international shipments and freight forwarders.

  • Experience with and understanding of hazmat shipping.

  • Calm demeanor to handle stressful situations professionally.
