MIX2FIX® Machinable Ceramic

MIX2FIX Machinable Ceramic is a dry-film lubricant product reinforced with superfine ceramic that cures at ambient temperatures to produce a self-lubricating, impact- and wear-resistant finish that does not rust. It spreads easily and will fill large and small gaps on both horizontal and vertical surfaces.

MIX2FIX Machinable Ceramic can be successfully applied to metal, ceramics (including tiles), concrete, wood and some hard plastics (does not adhere to polyethylene, polypropylene, or PTFE). It is not intended for structural applications. When fully cured, conventional metalworking techniques can be used to file, machine, drill, polish the finished repair. Cured color is Dark Blue/gray.

How to use:
 

To achieve optimum adhesion, clean surfaces of all contaminants using a solvent wipe. Abrading the surface with a fine emery cloth prior to cleaning will improve adhesion. Do not apply mixed product at temperatures below 41°F (5°C).

MIX2FIX Machinable Ceramic can be hand or machine mixed. Wear impermeable gloves when mixing or handling uncured product. Use only the amount of product needed for the job at hand. Containers of unmixed material can be resealed for future use. Use different utensils to measure out equal volumes or weights of the resin and hardener to avoid contamination of material remaining in the container. Mix the two components together for at least 3 minutes until a uniform dark blue/gray color is achieved. Using a spatula or palette knife apply the mixed product to the prepared surface within 10 to 15 minutes to ensure maximum adhesion. It is recommended that repairs be completed within 30 minutes to avoid disturbing the application as it begins to set.

MIX2FIX Machinable Ceramic will start setting within an hour at 68°F (20°C), depending on volume and temperature: the greater the volume (or higher the temperature), the faster it will set. Allow 6 hours before handling and 48 hours before returning to service. It can be shaped, filed and polished after 48 hours.
